Plainfield-Mary (Walka) Wakely, 93, formerly of Wequonnoc Village, Taftville, Ct. beloved wife of the late James K. Wakely, peacefully passed into God's light and arms, March 29, 2018, at Colonial Health Care in Plainfield, with her son James, her daughter Kathy, and family at her side.
She was born February 27, 1925 in Norwich, Ct. She was the daughter of the late Alfons and Anna (Rynkiewicz) Walka.
Mary was married to her husband Jim for 39 years until his passing in 1984. Mary is survived by her sister Laura Merkwan of Yankton South Dakota,  her children, son James Wakely and his wife Colleen of Lynn Massachusetts, and daughter Kathy (Wakely) Wesa and her husband Jack Wesa of Voluntown, Ct.,  four grandchildren; Jack K. Wesa, Kyle J. Wesa, Jonathan Wakely, Steven Wakely, three great-grandchildren; Jenna Wesa, Cecelia Wakely, Samuel Wakely, Richard Vieaux, Sister-in-law Phyllis Wakely, and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband James K. Wakely, daughter Justyne (Wakely)  Ranns, her three brothers Frank, Vincent, Edward and one sister Lillian (Walka) Goncharrow.  
Mary attended high school at NFA and worked as a corder at Plastic Wire and Cable. Mary was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Jewett City , Ct. She was a loving wife, mother, and devoted to her family. She loved their family dog Gypsy, and the birds outside her window.
Calling hours at Gagne -Piechowski Funeral Home, Rte 138 Griswold, Ct.,   will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, Saturday April 7,2018, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Church, Jewett City, Ct. at 11 AM with burial to follow at the Pachaug Cemetery in Griswold, Ct.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Taftville Fire Department, 134 Providence St., Taftvillw Ct. 06380.
