John “Jake” William Jakan, 78, 1945-2024 passed away peacefully at his home in his sleep on February 21, 2024.
John is predeceased by his parents Ann (Andriola) and William Anthony Jakan, and his loving wife Beverly (Anderson) Jakan, they made their home and raised their family on their farm in Canterbury, CT.
John was raised in Groton, CT. He was a Union Painter at Millstone Nuclear Power Plant for 25 years. John joined Central Cycle Club Inc. so his son had a place to ride motocross, he was a lifetime member and held several positions including President for 10 years total. He was a NESC (New England Sports Committee) President for 4 years. John became President of the Canterbury Seniors in 2016. John was committed to each organization he belonged to, devoting his time and good nature. His true passion was being a farmer and being around his animals.
John is survived by his daughter Andrea Tate (Clint Chamberlain), son Travis (Heather) Jakan, daughter Corrie (Timothy) Faille, son Matthew (Kaye) Jakan; his 10 grandchildren Jessica (Colin) McBrearty, Daniel (Mary Sisbarro) Semmelrock, Colby (Bailey Hosko) Jakan, Devin (Alexa Whitford) Tate, Kennedy Jakan, Nathan Faille, Kasey Jakan, Mia Jakan, Cassidy Faille, and Mitchell Faille; and 2 and ½ great grandchildren Finnley McBrearty; Charley Semmelrock; and Baby Tate. John is also survived by his brother Mark Jakan, sister Cathleen Delicato, sister-in-law Deborah Morin, brother-in-law Gary Anderson, several nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Christian Fellowship Church 140 Pudding Hill Rd, Scotland, CT 06264 from 2-4 PM. Light refreshments to follow service.
