Jan E. Bingell of North Grosvenordale, CT passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the age of 69.
He was born in Norwich, CT the son of the late Kenneth C. and Helvi K. (Okerman) Bingell.
Jan is survived by his son Kenneth A. Bingell, his sister Judith and her husband Peter Mioduszewski, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, his good friend, Richard “Dickie” Kachuk. Jan adored his two little great nieces Elina and Avery.
He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth and wife Barbara, his brother Robert, and his sister Laverne and husband William Stetson and their daughter Judith Marie.
Jan was an Army veteran serving as a cannoneer during the Vietnam War. He was an artillery handler, loading large weapons.
Jan was a self-employed carpenter/contractor, working with his brother, Bobby.
He also enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking which he was quite skilled at. Jan enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives. Two of his favorite states were Arizona and Florida. He was an antique buff, amateur coin and stamp collector. Jan also was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, playing his guitar and learning new music. He loved spending time with family and his mother’s cooking, especially.
A private service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Griswold on Saturday, December 7, 2019.
