Leonora “Lee” LaFrancois, 93, of Jewett City, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 surrounded by the comfort of her family she loved so much.
Lee was born September 19, 1925 in Jewett City, CT, the daughter of Joseph and Magdalena (Glowacka) Rosol.  She attended St. Mary Grammar School in Jewett City and graduated from Griswold High School Class of 1943.  She wouldn’t hesitate to let you know that she had been voted one of the best dancers in high school.  Lee cherished her friendships that lasted through the years.
She married Roger V. LaFrancois, Sr. on July 7, 1947 in Jackson, Mississippi.  Their lives were full of family celebrations, tons of friends and many athletic activities. He predeceased her on November 14, 1999.
Before retirement, Lee worked as a dental receptionist for Dr. Solomon, Dr. Gallinger, Dr. Chassanoff and Dr. Katzoff  of Griswold Dental Associates.   She was a member of the Griswold Senior Citizens, the Griswold Historical Society and Friends of Slater Library, often volunteering at book sales, spaghetti suppers and many other community activities.
Known for her friendly and giving nature, Lee truly delighted in helping others.  She enjoyed reading and doing crosswords, keeping up with the news, visiting friends and doting on her cats. She was very proud of her family and their many accomplishments.
Lee is survived by her daughter, Linda Christensen (Mark) of Preston; son Kenneth (Kathy) of Canterbury; and son Roger Jr. (Colleen) of Old Lyme; grandchildren Jeff Christensen of Preston and Emma Carlson (Corey) of Jewett City; and Roger Jr’s stepchildren Jeffrey of Jersey City, NJ and Amanda of Somerville, MA.  She is also survived by her great granddaughters Madeline, Stella, and Nora who adoringly knew her as Babchu.   She leaves behind a very special niece, Irene Goddette, plus many nieces and nephews.
Lee was predeceased by her brother, John Rosol and six sisters, Helen Eastham, Mary Ambot, Bertha Goddette, Emilia Rosol, Genevieve Romeszewski, and Lottie Sanders.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Jude Commons, Norwich; Davis Place, Danielson; Hartford Healthcare Hospice Care,  Mansfield; as well as Companions & Homemakers, for the care and support of both Lee and the family along the way.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Friends of the Slater Library, PO Box 523, Jewett City, CT 06351.
Visiting hours are Saturday December 1, 2018 from 9 to 11AM, with a short service to immediately follow at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Road, Jewett City. Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Lisbon.  For online condolences, please go to www.gagnepiechowski.com.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. What a special lady she was. I'm glad I got to see her in August when I was in Connecticut. She always had a smile and kind way about her. No wonder my Mom and I cared about her so much. Sincerely Robert Derusha

We are so sad to hear about Lee's passing. She was such a caring and loving person. Working with Lee at the dental office, sitting with her at games we both realize how she enjoyed every moment of life. Lee always looked for the best in everything and everyone. That is a rare trait these days. She is a loss for all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Pam and Gary Kinel
