Yvette Gordon Obituary

Yvette Andrzeicik Gordon, 91, of Jewett City, passed away suddenly but peacefully after a brief illness while visiting family in Aurora, Colorado on May 30, 2022. 

A lifelong resident of Jewett City, CT, she was born in her family home on November 1, 1930. Yvette was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Merilda Denis (St. John), and her siblings, Doris, Lucille, Ernest (George), Jacqueline, and Thomas.

Yvette was married to Edmond “Beb” Andrzeicik in 1955, until his death in 1979. She is survived by her sons, William of Putnam,  and Richard of Wethersfield.  She was predeceased by her son Michael in 2021, and her daughter Lori in 2012. Yvette will be dearly missed by her six loving  grandchildren,  Holly, Jaime, Evan, Lauren, Ryan and Erin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Yvette was remarried in 1983 to William Gordon, who predeceased her in 2021. She is survived by her stepchildren,  Dawn (Mitchell) Gordon Weiss – ME/FL, Martin (Diane) Gordon- Colchester, Michael (Tracy) Gordon- Bozrah, Diane (Curt) Gordon Adams – Lebanon, and Jeffrey (Donna) Marcotte – VT.  Yvette will be dearly missed by her ten step grandchildren and great grandchild - Max, Sari, Connor, Logan, Summer, Courtney, Madison, Andrea, Heidi and Emmett as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Yvette was employed for many years in the Personnel Department of Plastic Wire & Cable Company of Jewett City, where she eventually became Personnel Director until her retirement.  She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church, where she attended grammar school. She graduated from Griswold  High School in 1948.

Yvette enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Davenport,  FL. One of her greatest joys was preparing and hosting delicious meals for her family, friends and neighbors.  She enjoyed playing Bingo and penny slots at casinos all over the U.S. She was an avid fan of UConn women's and men’s basketball, and loved cheering on the Connecticut Sun in person.

Yvette's selfless nature, radiant smile, and tender loving care will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 11 from 5-7 pm at Gagne Funeral Home in Jewett City. A funeral mass will be held on July 12 at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church in Jewett City, followed by a Christian burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Lillipond Road in Griswold, where Yvette will be buried alongside her husband Beb, her daughter Lori and her son Michael. Thereafter, a luncheon celebrating Yvette’s life will be held at the VFW home on Taylor Hill Road in Jewett City. For online condolences please go to www.gagnefuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests instead that a donation be made in Yvette’s name to her favorite charity, the Arc of Eastern Connecticut in Norwich, which was so instrumental in allowing her son Michael to live a largely independent adult life for so many years.
