Griswold - William Russell Edmond, 81, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, at his home
surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 20, 1941, in Norwich, CT, son to the late Theodore and Florence (Brand)
Edmond. On 9/1/1962 he married the love of his life, Janet (Messier) Edmond after meeting her at a
town hall dance. Beginning life as a humble young couple in a summer cottage as their home, soon after
matrimony, Russell came along, then Denise and Eric. William worked hard to support his family his
whole life, while working as a Electronics Technician at Electric Boat until his retirement.
He enjoyed being with family and being out in nature, which he called “his church”. William was called
the Energizer Bunny but close friends as he never stopped with his projects. If he wasn’t cutting the
lawn, or repairing something on his properties, he was cutting wood, or walking his beloved dog Mocha.
As he slowed down, he napped daily near the radio and listened to his favorite songs.
William was a good kind man that was loved by many and will be missed greatly. His presence will be felt
in the many ways he was present in our lives such as when we walk in the woods, enjoy good food and
company, when the deer visit the backyard, when the owl flies overhead and especially when we feed
his favorite cat, Darla.
Besides his wife Janet Edmond he is survived by his three children Russell Edmond (Koren), Denise
Antonaros and Eric Edmond (Holly), and his four grandchildren Gabrielle Renaud (Seth), Nicholas
Zevetchin (Lauren), Jonathan Zevetchin and Ashley Edmond, his brothers, Theodore Edmond (Hilda),
Leonard Edmond (Carleen), sister Althea Zercie (Ralph) and sister in law Sandra Edmond. He is
predeceased by his brothers SP4 Thomas Allen Edmond (1968), and Gary Lee Edmond (2014) as well as
his parents.
