Virginia Irene Jedziniak died in Plainfield on April 5, 2021. She was born in Griswold on May 2, 1926 to Alexander and Marianna Kutsko. Her parents and sisters, Helen Kaminski, Jennie Sibicky and Sophie Ingves, predeceased her. Her sister, Maye Ingves, and brother, Robert Kutsko, survive her.
Virginia grew up on the family farm in Griswold. She completed her elementary education at Glasgo School and graduated from Griswold High School in 1944.
She worked as a bookkeeper and clerk in various local businesses. She was a life-long practicing Catholic.
Virginia was the quintessential mid-century woman. She gardened, canned, cooked, sewed, was a scout leader, church guild member and a great pinochle player. Her most gifted roles, however, were as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She now joins in eternity her beloved husband of 68 years, Edward, who died in 2016. She is survived by her children, Kathleen O’Brien (David) and Elizabeth Osga (Martin); five grandchildren, David Jr., Kevin and James O’Brien, Hilary Khacherian, and Ainslie Vitale; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 9 at 10 a.m.at St. Mary’s Church in Jewett City. Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery in Norwich. Virginia was known as a kind and generous person. Her heart would be warmed by donations to St. Mary’s Food Pantry or St. Mary’s Church, 34 North Main St., Jewett City, for those who wish to honor her memory (in lieu of flowers).
