Thomas Smith Obituary

On Sunday, May 29th 2022 A beloved father, brother, son and friend lost his life.

Thomas born in Laconia New Hampshire. He grew up in the Griswold area of Connecticut. He was a 1995 Griswold High School graduate. During his high school days he excelled in football, track and field, orchestra, band, and marching band. During this time Tom created friendships that would last his entire life. He was always Gathering people to him. Whether it was his 10-96 days or his days spent at local skate and ski shops. Tom started his employment career working at the Mohegan Sun. Eventually working for the Department of Transportation in the town of Coventry Rhode Island. Tom finally settled in at Electric Boat.

In 2007 Tom started on his greatest achievement, fatherhood. His "little boy", his namesake Thomas James Smith II. Everyone who knew him knows of their bond and love for each other. Teaching his son was his biggest joy and adventure. From becoming a pack leader for his son's Boy Scout troop to giving him lessons on his electric bass guitar. His son was inspired by his passion to help others and his dedication to his family. Furthering the bond between them by engaging in virtual gaming and all of the night's spent at the Citadel playing Dungeons and Dragons. These hobbies and memories together will always stay with him. His son will always remember his dedication to fatherhood. Will always remember a daily message of "Make good choices. I love you".

Tom was an avid Outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, kayaking and target practice. He was an avid supporter of the Constitution and the Second Amendment. From a young age he had a passion for all things motorcycle-related. This passion was lifelong. Riding was one of his favorite things to do. He gathered more friends along his journey and love nothing more than catching some wind with his sister, brothers, friends and everyone he met along the way. He has touched so many lives in his short time here with us. Throughout all of the love hardship, perseverance Thomas James Smith was a strong, independent, compassionate, funny, supportive, charming man that will forever remain in our hearts minds and lives.

In closing I would like to share with you something Tom has frequently share with all who knew and loved him.

" I'm sorry for making you worry every time I climb onto my bike.

For you worry this could be my last.

I want you to know that if that is the case, I'm sorry I left on such short notice.

Please know that was never my intention.

Thank you for supporting me even though you're not comfortable with it.

Thank you for the countless prayers.

Thank you for every phone call to make sure the biker down wasn't me.

Thank you for sharing your love even when it's difficult.

Sincerely, your biker".
