Susan Denise Goddette

On May 15, 2022, Susan Denise (Proulx) Goddette went home to join her family and friends who have gone before her in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Susan was born on June 21st, 1953 in Pawtucket Rhode Island where she was raised by her mother Geneva (LaPalme) Proulx, with two sisters her senior Helen (Proulx) Grenier, and Annette (Proulx) Coons.  She was baptized at St. Jean-Baptiste Church on July 5th 1953 where she would be welcomed into the Catholic Church beginning her journey as a devoted  Catholic serving as a Eucharistic Minister later in life.  Susan was a hard worker who enjoyed helping others, even working at Rocky Point as a teenager to save up money, settling in later as a hostess at a bed and breakfast and secretary for a livery company eventually becoming an amazing homemaker. In 2002 she met David Goddette and so started their 20 year romance, with 18 years of marriage, together they shared a love of 50s and 60s music attending over a hundred concerts, and many dinners and parties with the Plainfield, Griswold, and Lisbon Senior Centers, spending evenings dancing the night away in each others arms. She enjoyed traveling and going on trips with the Senior Centers including the Big E, whale watches and cruises.  Sue also enjoyed gardening, collecting and caring many plants, also collecting knickknacks, curios and ornaments to decorate for every season and holiday to make a warm and welcoming home for her family. Sue will be missed dearly by all who knew her, her beautiful smile, laugh and strong will was loved by all her friends and family, especially her bestfriends Mark and Dianne Perkins with which she enjoyed so many dinners and functions.  In addition to her husband David Goddette she is survived by her sister Helen (Proulx) Grenier, niece Pamela Grenier, nephew Michael Grenier, his wife Ann and their daughters Erin and Renee and niece Lynn L'heureux her daughter and son Jessica, Alcid, She also had two step children, Michael and Crystal Goddette.   She was pre deceased by her mother Geneva and sister Annette. 

There are no calling hours.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, Norwich, CT.  Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Griswold, CT.
