Susan Cutter, 64, of Griswold, CT peacefully passed away on November 22, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Quincy, Massachusetts and was the loving daughter of the late Catherine and William Hatch who raised her and her siblings in Holbrook, Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts accent followed her to Connecticut where she moved to be with the love of her life while he served in the US Navy. There they raised their four children in Griswold, CT.
Most recently, she was a dedicated employee of Backus Hospital where she spent many hours of her day (and night) working tirelessly. She has made many friends some who she considers family in the 20+ years she has worked there.
When she wasn’t putting hours in at work, she would spend much of her time with her family whether it be at their family cottage in Fryeburg, Maine, the campground or simply at home. She also enjoyed spending time with friends at the casino, going on cruises to anywhere with sunshine or vacations to Florida. Shopping was a favorite pastime which might explain the dedication to work. After all, black Friday was her favorite “holiday” as she considered it.
She was the type of person to give the shirt off of her back for anyone. She has many bonus children and grandchildren as she treated many as such.
Susan is survived by her husband, Joseph Cutter of Griswold, CT; children: Amy Cutter of Griswold, CT, Ashley (David) Amaral of Pomfret, CT, Suzanne Cutter of Norwich, CT, and Joseph Cutter (Tara Guinan) of Preston, CT; grandchildren: Andraya, Alayna and Aaden Cutter, Lucas Amaral and bonus grandchildren Aiden and Ryan Ventura; siblings: Michael (Gail) Hatch, Catherine (Mark) McDonald, Anne (Gary) Magliocco, Thomas (Lisa) Hatch and Mary (James) Hanafin
Visitation will be held at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home at 490 Voluntown Road in Griswold on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 5-7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church at 34 N Main Street in Jewett City on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11AM with a graveside service to follow at Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold, CT.
