Shirley Agnes (Bellisle) Sajkowicz

Shirley (Bellisle) Sajkowicz ,87, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed peacefully on May 31st 2023.

A graduate of Norwich Free Academy, she had a long successful career in the retail industry, initially managing the Jewelry and Accessories Department of Styles of Norwich followed by Brides Showcase and the TJ Maxx of Groton.

She was a creative, fashion maven, avid gardener, seamstress, lover of lobster and fierce defender of her family.  She made every event, holiday, and birthday special.

She leaves the following survivors:  her husband of 66 years Chester Sajkowicz Sr of Preston, her daughters Pamela Yerkes of Norwich, Kimberly Matarese of Old Lyme, and her son Chester Sajkowicz Jr and his wife Kim of Canterbury, her grandchildren Madison Sajkowicz of Brooklyn, CT, Nathan Sajkowicz of Canterbury CT, Chelsea Voelker and her husband Jake Voelker of Salem, CT, Dr Nicholas Yerkes and his wife Beth of North Liberty, IA, Megan Yerkes of Revere, MA, and Alex Yerkes of Hamden, CT, her great grandchild Jett Voelker and many, many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by her sisters Catherine Jackson, Florence (Jackie) Rizzuto, her brothers Raymond and Richard (Buster) Bellisle, mother Fannie (Domaleski) Bellisle and father Frank Bellisle.

There will be a funeral mass at St Catherine’s of Siena in Preston, CT on June 23rd 2023 at 11am followed by a gathering of friends at the Jewett City VFW at 12:30pm.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Preston Fire Department.
