Sheila E. Churma

Sheila E. (Suhovich) Churma, 86, of Griswold passed away February 2, 2023 at her home after a lengthy illness. 

She was born December 23, 1936 in Weymouth, MA.  Sheila is survived by her husband Joe Churma, whom she married on December 22, 1956, her four children Joseph A. Churma, of Griswold, Gregory M. Churma of Monks Corner, SC, Teresa B. Churma of Voluntown, Leslie A. Gaucher of Voluntown, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Sheila graduated from Weymouth, MA High School in 1954.  She then moved to New York City and became a Copa Cabana Dancer, being part of shows traveling North East American and East Canada.  She also achieved being an advisor to the Director of the Copa Cabana Shows on determining other dancers trying out to become Copa Cabana dancers.  Sheila also did magazine modeling.  She then met Joe Churma, married him and raised four children, instilling in them strong traditional family values with proper edict with help from Dad.  Sheila graduated from Brockton, MA, Massasoit Community College with an Associates Degree in 1981.

A calling hour will be held from 10:00-11:00AM Wednesday, February 8, 2023 with a memorial service to immediately follow at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold.
