Rene Martell Obituary
Rene L Martell, 39, earned her wings Thursday June 24, 2021. She was born March 15, 1982, in Norwich, the daughter to Wayne Martell and Valerie Cardin.
Rene graduated from Griswold High School, class of 2000. Following graduation, Rene went on to hold a handful of retail positions. She was a hard worker and adored by her coworkers. Rene was very giving, and enjoyed volunteering, most recently for the Griswold Senior Center. She enjoyed hiking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Rene had a personality that was unparallel. Her smile would light up a room. She always had the right thing to say to make you smile. Her impromptu singing of “Seagulls (Stop It Now)” could turn even your worst day in to a joyful one. She had a passion for music and movies, and wouldn’t hesitate to reach out and share with you that she just watched or listened to one of your favorites. She was a great friend to many people.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her 3 sons, Lucas Martell of Griswold, Trevor Martell-Yeomans of Griswold, and Adrian Medrano of Plainfield; her sister, Michelle Walton and husband Kyle of Sprague; maternal grandparents Pat and Boyd Acklin of St. Petersburg, FL; step mother, Lisa Martell of Lisbon, step siblings, Nicole Contois and husband Joseph of Griswold, and Daniel Allard of Sprague; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins
Calling hours will be from 5-7 pm Friday, July 9, 2021, at Gagne – Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Road, Griswold. Graveside service and funeral will take place at 10:30am Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Pachaug Cemetery, 999 Voluntown Road, Griswold. A Celebration of Life will follow from 12-3pm at V.F.W. Post 10004, 263 Taylor Hill Road, Jewett City.
