Raymond E. Gromko, 79 of Griswold CT passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 after a battle with a long illness. Ray was born on March 2, 1942 to Edward and Helen (Niestzyzewska) Gromko in Norwich, CT. After graduating from Norwich Free Academy in 1960, he went on to study Electronics at the University of Hartford. Following this, he worked as an Installer/Repairman for S.N.E.T., kicking off a Forty-Two-year career in Telecommunications. In 1960, he met Geraldine McDougall and they wed in 1967, going on to have three daughters, Kelly, Dena and Tracey. After retiring in 2005, Ray spent his time golfing, going on vacations with his wife, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. He is survived by his loving wife Geraldine, daughters Kelly (Chris) Kempesta, Dena Stamm and Tracey (Dave) Wilson and five loving grandsons; Matthew & Kyle Stamm, Jackson Kempesta and Garrett & Cooper Wilson, as well as numerous cherished family and friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Ss. Thomas & Anne Church in Voluntown, CT. Burial will follow in Pachaug Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Mary Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 34 North Main St., Jewett City, CT 06351.
