Peter Gaathje, Sr. Obituary
Voluntown – Peter J. Gaathje, Sr., 77, of North Shore Road passed away Saturday , April 17, 2021 at the W.W. Backus Hospital, Norwich.
He was born September 7, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Johannes and Marit (Furu) Gaathje.
Peter proudly serviced in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for many years as a Radiographer at Electric Boat.
He is survived by his children Peter J. Gaathje, Jr., Carl K. Gaathje and Deborah Gilbert, his grandchildren Ashley Gaathje, Kyle Gaathje, Marissa Gaathje and Alex Gaathje, and his three great grandchildren Ryan, Callie and Grayson.
Besides his parent he was predeceased by his brothers Eric and Rolf Gaathje.
A Celebration of Life will be announced for a later date.
