Paul Marsters McGuire

Paul Marsters McGuire, 67, of Dep Trail, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 19, 2026, at his home.

Paul was born on December 2, 1958, in Norwich, Connecticut, the son of the late Paul E. and Lillian M. (LaChappelle) McGuire. On February 14, 1981, in Voluntown, Connecticut, he married the love of his life, Josephine (Ywarsky) McGuire, who survives him.

Paul proudly owned and operated McGuire Plumbing & Heating for many years before retiring. Through his work, many customers became more than clients—they became lifelong friends. His passion for the trade lives on through his son-in-law and now his grandson, who continue carrying on the family business.

Paul’s love for the town of Voluntown was unmatched—he was always a true “Voluntown boy.” He instilled in his family a deep appreciation for town, country, faith, and family. A natural storyteller, Paul was known for his warmth, humor, and for keeping his Irish heritage close to his heart.

Paul spent many hours in the woods hunting and fishing, and he especially loved time spent in the pachaug state forest and at his cabin in the woods in Whitehall, New York 

Besides his wife, Josie, Paul is survived by his daughter Jamie Cassidy and her husband Jeffery of Voluntown; his beloved grandsons Luke and Liam Cassidy, also of Voluntown; his brother Mark McGuire, Sr. and his wife Lori of Haverhill, New Hampshire; his nephews Mark McGuire, Jr. and his wife Lindsey of Voluntown, and Matthew McGuire and his partner Angelica of San Diego, California. He is also survived by his great-niece and nephews, Mark McGuire III, Nate McGuire, and Amelia McGuire.

In addition to his family by blood, Paul held close a group of dear friends whom he considered family, including Mark French, Leon Wilbur, Kevin Gordon, Cousin Francis, Michael Schultz, Timmy Corcoran, Matthew Schroeder, and Mark and Brian Hunton.

Calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Voluntown Baptist Church, Voluntown, Connecticut. Following the church service, a reception will be held at the Jacque Carter Club in Jewett City, Connecticut.
