Jewett City - Paul Joseph LaRue, Jr., 82, of Jewett City, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital with family by his side.
He was born September 28, 1942, in Norwich, CT, son of the late Paul Joseph and Dorothy (Exley) LaRue. On February 4, 1967, he married the love of his life, Linda (Lockwood) LaRue, who survives him.
Paul honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he dedicated many years to C & C Moving and Storage. He also served with the Jewett City Police Department and was a proud, lifelong member of the Jewett City Fire Department. Paul later retired from Foxwoods Casino, bringing a close to a long and devoted working life centered around service and community.
But beyond his accomplishments, Paul will be remembered most for his extraordinary warmth and infectious friendliness. He never met a stranger-just a friend he hadn’t made yet. Whether in line at the store, at work, or around the neighborhood, Paul had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He lived his life with an open heart, a ready smile and a spirit of generosity that made him unforgettable to those who crossed his path.
In addition to his loving wife of 58 years Linda, he is survived by his children Katherine Durand of Hooksett, NH, Paul J. LaRue, III (Teena) of Griswold and Kimberly Lickwola of Baltic. He also leaves behind his sister Joan Bohara of Norwich and sister-in-law Grace LaRue of Plainfield, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings Lawrence LaRue, George LaRue, Patricia Uzialko and Linda Lewis.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at Sprague Rod and Gun Club, 90 Bushnell Hollow Rd., Baltic, CT on May 31, 2025, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
