Griswold – Norman E. Brenek of Brewster Road, passed away on February 21, 2021 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 24, 1940, son of Emile and Anna (Jasak) Brenek.
He was employed for 33 years at Triangle Wire and Cable in Jewett City until the plant transferred to New Jersey in 1995. Thereafter, he worked as a church custodian at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Jewett City. Norman will be remembered as a pleasant, fun-loving man who cherished being with his family. Over the years, he enjoyed fishing, softball, baseball, bowling and later, watching his two grandsons, Jackson and Bode, play football and lacrosse.
Norman’s brother, Richard Brenek and Richard’s wife, Patricia(Gray) Brenek of Griswold both predeceased him in 2016.
He is survived by Pearl Brenek, their two sons, Christopher Brenek of Griswold and Steven Brenek and his wife Shannon (West) Brenek and grandsons Jackson Brenek and Bode Brenek, of New London. Norman was extremely proud to be a grandfather and was always present, when able, at his grandsons’ sports games and school activities to root them on and enjoy their achievements. Norman is also survived by his brother Donald Brenek and wife Martha Brenek of Lowell, VT, his sister Marilyn Brenek of Canterbury and several nieces and nephews.
