Noella (Bea) Maurice Pond, 93, died peacefully surrounded by love and care at New London Rehab in Waterford, CT on January 17th, 2025. She sang, laughed, and smiled every day until God called her home.
Noella was widowed twice. Her first husband was Arthur Maurice with whom she had five children. She later remarried Richard (Skip) Pond and had another son. She is survived by her children: Arthur Maurice Jr. and his wife Joy, Patrick Maurice and his wife Debbie, David Maurice, Cheryl Roberts and her husband Charlie, Leo Maurice Pond and his wife Megin Walden. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Victoria Maurice.
Noella worked tirelessly throughout her life, holding many jobs to support her family while always remaining present for her children. She was a caterer, short-order cook, laundry aide, Avon representative, Tupperware consultant, and store clerk. She owned a restaurant called "Our Place" in Norwich, CT, which was famous for its clam chowder and bigfoot pancakes. She treasured her family farm in Oakdale, where she tended large vegetable gardens and her prize roses, she loved listening to the birds and enjoying nature.
Her family was not wealthy, but we never felt that way. She taught us that no matter what you do in life, always give it 110% and treat everyone with kindness. Mom was our constant support - whenever we needed her, she was there. She will be deeply missed. We were blessed to have her as our mother, and we will keep her in our hearts forever until we meet again.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am on April 26, 2025 at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Montville, CT, followed by a reception in Gales Ferry to celebrate her life - there will be food, stories, music & laughter - just as she wished. All friends and family are welcome to join.
