Michael James Way

Michael James Way, 54, of Colchester, passed away on Friday, February 7 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by friends and family. 

Mike was the son of Moe and JoAnn (Gauthier) Way who both predeceased him. Mike grew up in Taftville where he played a variety of youth sports and enjoyed making memories on family vacations.  He graduated from NFA in 1990 where he played both football and baseball. Upon graduation Mike joined the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in 1999.  

Mike is survived by his son, Michael Jr., brother Matt and sister Michelle. Also remaining to cherish Mike’s memory are his longtime companion, Crystal Ladd, her daughters Angela and Amber, and their grandkids who he considered his own.  Brayden and Scarlett will greatly miss their “Buddy”.

Along with his recent rescue dog, Hannibal, who brought him tremendous joy, he will be missed by numerous friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  

A memorial service, with military honors, will be held 11:00AM, Saturday February 22, 2025 at the Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home, Jewett City, CT. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
