Michael Benjamin Scepanski, 66, passed away on November 23, 2025. Born on October 17, 1959, Michael was a lifelong resident of Griswold, Connecticut and a proud graduate of Griswold High School and Ellis Tech.
Michael dedicated more than 30 years of his career to Kaman Aerospace in Moosup, CT, where he worked as a machine operator and later a group leader until the facility’s closing. He went on to serve the community through his work with the Quaker Hill Post Office, where he was known for his reliability, kindness and strong work ethic.
A committed volunteer, Michael gave many years of service to the Jewett City Fire Department -first as a firefighter and later as a member of the fire police. He also faithfully volunteered his time working at the local polling stations. Service to others was simply part of who he was.
Michael loved the ocean, especially the shores of Matunuck Beach, RI, where he found peace and joy. A hardworking man throughout his life, he was also devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Jewett City.
He is survived by his mother, Doris Gervais; his father, Benjamin Scepanski; his siblings, Karen Lortie, Mark Scepanski, Carl Scepanski and Brenda Scepanski; and also his goddaughter, many nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Cheryl Viens.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved significant other, Leslie Brouillette, whom he cherished dearly.
Loved by many, Michael will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
