Michael Ralph Penardo

Michael Penardo, 77, of Voluntown, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2023, at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. He was born in Cranston, Rhode Island, on February 7, 1946, and lived in Connecticut most of his life.

Mike was a respected professional in the field of construction and OSHA safety. He worked as a Construction Safety Director for over 50 years and worked to protect and educate hundreds of workers through the course of his career. He was known in his field for his expertise in OSHA regulations and best practices, his commitment to safety and for his respectful and consistent team-management skills.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home in Griswold. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St Jude Children's Hospital in Mike's name.

Mike was a respected professional and a dedicated safety advocate. He was kind, generous and considerate, and was always willing to help others. He was a devoted and compassionate friend and will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his colleagues and friends.
