Matthew Joseph Veloce, Sr.

Canterbury -  Matthew Joseph Veloce, Sr., 32, of Goodwin Road passed away unexpectedly Saturday March 25, 2017 at his home.  
He was born April 9, 1984 in Ridgewood, NJ son to Margaret A. (McBride) Veloce and the late Frank G. Veloce, Sr.  He leaves behind a wife, Sandra M. (Smith) Veloce, two children, Matthew J. Veloce, Jr. and Abigail C. Veloce.  
In addition he is survived by two brothers Frank Veloce and his wife Toni and Andrew Veloce, a sister Arlene Deroy and her husband Chad, nieces and nephews Tienna, CJ, Frankie, John, Adrianna, Antonia and Kyra.
Matt was a software developer in the insurance industry.  He was actively involved in the communities of Canterbury and Griswold.  He was a founding member of the Griswold Youth Center.  He was a member of the Canterbury Athletic Association, SECJSA and the Griswold Soccer Club.  He loved to be outdoors hunting and fishing.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5:00-8:00PM at the Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road Jewett City, CT.  Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday at the Preston City Congregational Church, Preston CT.  The funeral will assemble directly at the church.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.  For online condolences please go to www.gagnepiechowski.com
