Mary “Mim” Miller turned 90 on September 15th and passed away peacefully on October 4th. Mim was the daughter of Hugh Francis and Mary McLaughlin. She attended St Mary’s School and graduated from Griswold High School in 1951 as the class salutatorian. Shortly after, she married Carlton “AJ” Miller and together they raised three children. As a young mother, Mim completed business school and became a bookkeeper, working at Adams Wayside, Thames Valley Council for Community Action, and finally, as the treasurer for the Town of Griswold.
Mim was an avid reader, traveler, and shopper who was known for her signature pins-many of which she later gave away to friends and colleagues. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and pride in her Irish heritage.
She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Allison Miller of Clarkston Michigan, her daughter Sally Sherman of Canterbury, two grandsons Robert and Seth Miller, her step granddaughter Tyesha Sherman-Cox, and her great grandson Robert Miller Jr. She was predeceased by her husband AJ, their son Mark, their son-in-law Thomas Sherman, and her brother, Hugh Francis McLaughlin II.
Special thanks to the staff at Colonial Health and Rehab for their patience, compassion, and friendship with our mother during the last two years of her life.
Burial will take place at Pachaug Cemetery in Griswold at 3:00pm on December 7th followed by a celebration of life gathering at Tulli’s Restaurant, also in Griswold. All are welcome.
