MaryEllen (Ringwood) Brunson, Age 59, of Griswold, CT passed away peacefully November 12, 2022 surrounded by her loving family and friends at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Gregory S. Brunson of 31 years. Born in Providence, RI and raised in Warren, RI she was the daughter of the late Charles and Julianne Ringwood.
She was a graduate of Three Rivers Community College where she earned her associates degree in Science/Nursing in 1995, and then earned her LPN degree from Norwich Regional Vocational-Technical School in 1999. She worked as an LPN for Backus Hospital, Windham Urology and 4 different Rehab/Nursing facilities from 1999 until she retired in 2021. Her patients loved her.
Before becoming a nurse, MaryEllen was an aircraft engineer in the US Air Force. Enlisting in 1981, she worked on military airplanes until working in Personal Affairs from 1986 to 1990, then served in the CT Air National Guard for the next 3 years, being honorably discharged upon completion of each tour. She was proud of her Portuguese heritage, and cooked the best chourico kale soup, among others. She had an incredible sense of humor and was known for her generosity.
She is survived by her husband Gregory Sean Brunson (with whom she resided) of Griswold and their son Benjamin Riley Brunson of Willington, CT. She is also survived by her brother Charley Ringwood of Wichita Falls, TX his son Chuck and his daughter Jennifer, and her brother Kenneth Ringwood of Florida. She is also survived by her sister Sharon of Irwin, PA her husband Gordon and their daughter Sarah.

Calling hours will be held from 5:00-7:00PM Tuesday, December 6, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00PM Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at St. Mary's Church, Jewett City, CT. Burial will immediately follow in Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold. CT.
