Mary (Drobiak) Varnish

Jewett City - Mary Varnish, 94, of Jewett City, CT peacefully passed over to Heaven to be with the Good Lord and her husband Peter on May 26, 2018.
She was born in West Warren, MA on March 27, 1924, a daughter to Joseph and Catherine Drobiak. She grew up with her brothers and sisters in Danielson.  She married her only true love, Peter Varnish, on August 3, 1946.  They bought a house and raised a family in Jewett City and stayed best friends for over 50 years until Pete passed away on May 5, 1998.
Mary is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law.  Lena and Brian Nichols of Maine and Linda and Daniel Sadowski of Griswold; two granddaughters, Katie and Sarah Sadowski of Griswold and grandson Alex and Cassia Nichols of Maine; and Great Grandson Calvin McEwen of Griswold.  Babcia always had unconditional love to give her family.
Mary is predeceased by her husband, Peter, brothers Fritzie, Rudy, Johnny and sister Jennie.
She leaves many Friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and sisters Helen and Wanda.
For the past 20 years Mary has been a feisty woman who had close family and friends to visit, go out to eat with and take her wherever she wanted to go. She will always be happy to know that her traditions of holiday times, toasting each other, and eating family meals together will continue. Mary had a great life for 94 years.  It was her time to go to be with Pete.
There will be calling hours from 5:00-7:00PM on Thursday May 31, 2018 at the Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Road, Jewett City, CT.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday June 1 at 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Church in Jewett City funeral to assemble at church.  Burial to follow within St. Mary’s Cemetery on Lilly Pond Road in Griswold.
