Mary Elizabeth (Walsh) Barber

Griswold - Mary Elizabeth Barber, 78, passed away in the presence of her family on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT.

She was born February 27, 1947 in Norwich, CT, daughter to the late John and Anna (Derda) Walsh.  On August 14, 1970 she was married to her late husband, Harold Barber, who passed away November 27, 2016.

Mary worked for many years as a driver and manager for Griswold Transportation.

Always the supportive Mother, she is survived by her three children, Dawn Helenberger, Rick Barber (Jenn), Tyler Barber (Florelyn Custodio), and her sister Patricia Blecha (Richard).  Mary was the proud and loving Grammy to eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her brother John Walsh and her sister Marguerite Jones.

A calling hour will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home.  Burial will immediately follow in Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold, CT.
