Maria Amador Figueroa

Maria Amador Figueroa was born 09-8-29 in Puerto Rico. She came to the U.S. and married Manuel A. Figueroa. They chose to make a life here, and Maria began working at Pratt and Whitney. She is predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Manuel A. Figueroa, a son, Manuel Figueroa Jr. and her cherished grandson Anthoney Nigro, whom she helped raise.

Maria is survived by 2 daughters, Camelia Conner and Maria Lamay. She had 5 grandchildren: Anthony Nigro, Jason and Eve Figueroa, and Patrick and Daniel Conner. Additionally, she is survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She resided in Voluntown with her grand-niece, Diana Nigro, nurse and caretaker, with whom she developed a long, deep and loving relationship. She also had a close friend who was constantly by her side, Geraldine Carter. Happily, she lived long enough to become a grandmother to another grandmother in the family! She was tough, independent and courageous. May she rest in peace.

A calling hour will be Thursday January 5, 2023 from 10 to 11 AM at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Rd., Jewett City, CT with a service at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pachaug Cemetery.
