Lois A. (Morey) Babbitt

Griswold – Lois A. Babbitt, 84, of Griswold, CT and St. Petersburgh Fla. passed away on April 18, 2026 at Norwichtown Nursing and Rehabilitation, after a brief illness.

She was born February 9, 1942 in Norwich, daughter of Louis J. Morey, Sr. and Anna (Pereviznick) Morey.  Mrs. Babbitt attended NFA and graduated in 1959.  Mrs. Babbitt worked for State Coroner McKay and Attorney’s Brown, Jewett, Driscoll from 1959-1963.

On November 22, 1962 she married her husband Richard Babbitt in St. Mary’s Church in Greenville.

Lois remained at home when their two children were born and later remained active in many organizations including: sending out agent donation letters for NFA class of 1959, boy scout parents’ group, Griswold Volunteer Fire Department Associate member, attended antique engine and tractor shows with her husband up and down the east coast and was a member of the Griswold Senior Center.

Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Cassidy and her husband Keith of Griswold; her son Todd Babbitt and his wife Tina Falck of Griswold; a granddaughter Amanda Marthaler and her husband Cody, a grandson Patrick Cassidy and great grandchildren Anabelle Marthaler and Caleb Marthaler along with a nephew, Craig Morey and a sister-in-law Nancy Morey. 

She was predeceased by her husband, parents and her brother Louis Morey, Jr.

The family would like to thank her long-term caretaker Sandrene Clarke, Hospice and Norwichtown Nursing and Rehabilitation for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Lois’ memory to the Griswold Fire Department or the Griswold Senior Center.

Calling hours will be held from 5:00-7:00PM Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road Jewett City, CT.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00AM Friday April 24, 2026 at Ss.
