Linda Riley Obituary

Linda G. Riley Obituary

Jewett City – Linda Gail Riley passed away on February 12, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family after courageously battling lung cancer and multiple sclerosis. Linda was born in New London, CT on February 3rd, 1962 to Patrick Santora and the late Wanita Moser.

On July 16, 1999, Linda married James Riley at their home on St. John Rd. in Jewett City. After a beautiful back yard ceremony, they left in a horse and carriage ride to the Jacques Cartier Club for a very festive reception. Linda was the love of Jim’s life as he was hers. He will miss being by her side every day enjoying each other’s company. They enjoyed their home, their yard, and their plants. They loved watching the hummingbirds which gathered on the feeders that Linda made sure were in place on time for their arrival every spring. They did everything together and they were looking forward to 25 years of marriage in July.

As a young woman, Linda worked as a waitress in Sanibel Captiva Island, Florida. When returning to Ct, she worked as a bartender at the Jacques Cartier Club (where she most recently was a member), as a certified nurse’s aide for the CT VNA and as a clerk for TVCCA.

She is survived by her husband Jim, her father Patrick Santora, her daughter, Chauntelle Weekley, her son, Christopher Weekley (Aimee) and grandchildren, Tyler Howard, Jayceon Simmonds and Mackenzie Weekley. She is also survived by her sisters, Robin Morrison and Dawn Gentry. Linda was predeceased by her brother Patrick Santora 3rd in 2015.

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00 AM on February 23, 2024 at The Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road Jewett City, CT. There will be a short service at the funeral home at 11:00 AM before going to St. Mary’s cemetery in Lisbon.

Linda’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Eastern Connecticut Hematology Oncology (ECHO) for their devotion to her for the past several months and to Hospice for their support in the last week of her life.
