Lester K. Davis

Lester K Davis, 79,  of Voluntown passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.

        He was born on January 30th in Norwich CT, the son of the late George and Mildred (Kinne) Davis. In 1962 he enlisted in the Air Force where he rose to the rank of Airman First Class before being honorably discharged in 1966. Lester attended Thames Valley State Technical College where he received an associates degree in Science and Industrial Management Technology in 1980. He worked for 27 years for the State of CT Department of Transportation where he rose to the title of supervisor. With his passion for logging, he could always be found felling trees to help support his close friends and family. As a lifelong member of Voluntown, Lester served his community as Town Selectman for a number of years as well as the Planning and Zoning Committee, Wetlands Committee and Robins Cemetery Association. 

        Lester is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary (Zajechowski) Davis, 4 children; Dwayne of Voluntown, Dale of Willimantic, Dawn of Voluntown and Dean of Voluntown, 1 sister; Bonnie Merrill of Voluntown; 8 grandchildren; Jessica Gileau, Maureen Young, Katie Davis, Briana Neeley, Tyler Davis, Dakotah Maldonado, Destiny Maldonado and Ella Davis, 5 great grandchildren and 2 nephews, 3 stepchildren; Tammy Davis, Gary Toof and Brian Toof and 3 step grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepson Timothy Toof. 

      Calling hours will be 3:00-5:00PM Sunday April 23, 2023 at the Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road Jewett City, CT.  A funeral service will be held 10:00AM, Monday, April 24, 2023 at the Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold, CT.
