Leroy (Roy) Small Obituary

Leroy (Roy) Small, age 92 of Norwich, CT passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2024. He was born in Searsport, Maine to the late Leroy and Maxine (Dodge) Small.  He is survived by his loving wife Jeannette (Lavoie) Small of 44 years.

 

He is also survived by his daughters Marilyn Brown (Glen) of Benton, Maine; Sharon Dudley (Dale) of Lakeland, Florida; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; his half sister Nancy Chartier (Bill) of Brooklyn, CT; half brothers, Steven Frohock of North Searsport, Maine; and Bruce Frohock of Monroe, Maine as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his brother, Donald Small and sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Nattress.

 

Roy served 12 years in the U.S. Army – Company E, Second Brigade, 28th Infantry in Germany and Alaska – earning the National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Berlin, as well as Expert Infantry and Parachutist badges.

 

He was a mechanic at Electric Boat before retiring.  Roy was an avid Pool and Skeet Shooter belonging to many APA pool leagues over the years and a member of the Griswold Polish Club and Norwich Senior Center.  He also enjoyed playing his guitar and fishing.

 

Many thanks to Hartford Healthcare Hospice at Home Care.  Special thanks to Hospice nurses Marie, Michelle, and Catherine and Hospice aid Wendy, for their compassionate and comforting support and care of Roy and myself.  Words cannot express my gratitude.

 

Services will be private, as he will be laid to rest in Searsport, Maine with his father and brother.  He will be sadly missed.
