Lawrence "Larry" Floyd Stranzenbach, a devoted husband, loyal friend, and proud veteran, passed away at his home in Lewes, DE, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born on November 12, 1938, in South Plainfield, NJ, to Fred and Mae Stranzenbach, Larry’s life was defined by service and love. At 18, he joined the U.S. Navy, beginning a distinguished 21-year career. While stationed at a submarine base in Groton, CT, he met the love of his life, Susanna. The two were married in Rota, Spain, beginning a lifelong adventure of camping and traveling the world. They eventually settled in Griswold, CT, where they shared 55 wonderful years together, living by their favorite motto: “As long as we have each other, we have everything we need.”
Following his naval discharge, Larry spent 19 years at General Dynamics-Electric Boat Division and later worked at Foxwoods Resort Casino. An avid fisherman and baseball fan, he also had a talent for mechanics and loved a good day at the casino with family and friends. Above all, Larry cherished his community, from his neighbors to his church family.
He was predeceased by his parents Fred E. and Mae J. (Suleski) Stranzenbach, his five siblings Fred, Richard, Roger, Robert and Melissa and his beloved wife, Susanna C. (Barstow) Stranzenbach
He is survived by his many nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, his dog Colby.
