Kenneth Porter Obituary

Danielson- Kenneth F. Porter passed away on May 3, 2021 at the age of 79 after a brief illness. He was born December 7, 1941 in Boston Massachusetts to Douglas S. Porter and Rose-Marie (Durkin) Porter. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering  in 1969.  He worked for a few companies in developing desired manufacturing and production.  In March of 1975, Ken became an industrial Engineer for the Interoyal Corporation in Plainfield, CT. Upon that plant closing, he became employed by Kaman Aerospace at their Moosup, CT location where he worked until that location was closed in 2004. Not one to sit idle, Kenneth went to work for Mohegan Sun Casino as a dealer until his retirement.

Ken enjoyed all things electronic and Women’s Basketball. He spent his early retirement years traveling to visit family and friends. He volunteered many hours to the American Red Cross. Quiet times were spent doing computer jigsaw and word puzzles. His greatest joy came from spending time with his immediate family in both Maryland and Connecticut ; as well as with, the children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren of his dear  friends Arvin and Judith Clapper whom predeceased him in 2016. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bruce of Westerly, RI; Brother Douglas of Manchester, CT; and both Jenny Florence McMechen and Jesse J. Florence, the beloved children of Debbie and Harry Florence.

He is survived by Brother Ronald Porter and wife BJ and their 4 daughters (Karen and Kelli of Atlanta, GA) and  Joanne, and  Karen of Joppa , MD; sister-in-law Gail Porter (wife of Douglas Jr.) and their 3 sons and daughter (Jeff, Ryan, Stephen, Linda); as well as multiple great-nieces and nephews. Also mourning the loss of Ken are Cheri Williams of Jewett City , her husband Dan and their family;  Debbie Florence and husband Harry of Crossville, TN; and Ken’s Godchild, Cara Roberts of Griswold, her husband Michael and their children.

Services and burial are private.
