Kathleen Rodeck of Anchorage, AK passed away peacefully at her daughter Mary’s home in Griswold, CT on January 13, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Kathleen was born in Milwaukee, WI; grew up in Racine, WI; and lived 20 years in Waupaca, WI before moving to Anchorage, AK in January 1985.
Kathleen loved cooking, traveling in the US and overseas, having all sorts of adventures, laughing and having fun. Her family was the light of her life; she cherished all of her moments with them, especially the silly ones. Over the years, she was a teacher, social worker, advocate for migrant workers, Girl Scout leader, candidate for Wisconsin state legislature, community theater director. Along with her husband, “Mr. Bill”, she was a founding member of Last Frontier MCC (motorcycle club) and participated with Alaska Center for Spiritual Living using her gift in Angel Card readings. She enjoyed writing stories with Partners in Crime writers’ group, as well as working and volunteering for Alaska Diabetes Association and Alaska Public Television (KAKM), and worked as a caregiver for Hope Cottages Anchorage. Kathleen made lifelong friendships and touched many lives through her endeavors, loving and being loved in return by those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, William Rodeck; children: Lisa Lehr (née Kolonick), Mary Wadsworth (née Kolonick) and her fiancé, Dennis Girardin, James (Julie) Kolonick, and Jennifer (Stephen) Podesta (née Kolonick); sister, Monica Greco; brothers: William Marsch, Leonard (Margaret) Marsch; six grandchildren: Joshua Beranis, Timothy (Katie) Kolonick, Theodore Lehr, Rosie (Robin) Beranis, Daniel (Rebecca) Kolonick, and Katelyn Kolonick. Also survived by six great-grandchildren: Maddox Beranis, Harper Beranis, Wyatt Kolonick, Kallen Kolonick, Ezra Kolonick, and Jude Beranis, was excited about soon to arrive seventh great-grandchild, Jasper Beranis; several nieces and nephews, a broad and diverse spectrum of friends; and many granddogs and cats. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Bernadette (Dickert) Marsch, her sister-in-law, Marikka Marsch, and former husband, Walter Kolonick, Jr.
