John Byron Sweet

John B. Sweet passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the age of 91.  He was born in Plainfield, CT on September 27, 1934.  On December 12, 1954, John married Katherine (Kit) Patrylo and they later went on to raise their family.

John joined the Teamsters Local 493 in 1954 and he drove for Rapid Transit for 26 years before its closing.  He made many life long friends along his route.  He later worked for White Oak Corporation and retired in 1997.  John was also the Vice President/Business Agent for his Local for several years. 

John will be remembered for his sharp mind and come backs even at the age of 91.  He enjoyed being in the fields on his tractor and going to the diner, always saving his beagles a special treat.

John was predeceased by is wife Katherine in 2011.  He is survived by his children Clayton, Jane and Bevan J. (Colleen) Sweet.  His two grandchildren, Haley K. and Bevan B. (Kelsey) Sweet and great grandson Everett. He is also survived by his brother Stephen Sweet.
