John Joseph Osga, Jr.

John J. Osga Jr., aged 80, of Griswold, CT passed away peacefully on January 12, 2023 after a brief stay at Backus Hospital. 

John is survived by his wife Carol, to whom he was married for 59 years, he is also survived by his sister Frances Hogan and his brother Andrew Osga.  John was predeceased by his parents, John and Agnes (Siluk) Osga Sr. and his sister Dorothea Sakowicz.  John is survived by his four children, Lisa (Andrew) Fessenden, Laureen (Bruce) Thivierge, John Osga III, and Randy Osga.  John also leaves behind his four grandsons, Nicholas Fessenden, Roland Thivierge, Brett Thivierge and Brody Osga along with numerous nieces and nephews.

John was born on the family farm in Griswold, CT and until very recently could be seen there every day taking care of the cows and the land with his youngest son Randy.  For many years he raised and milked a herd of Registered Holstein cows with his wife, his children, his nephews and a few lucky farm hands by his side.  He was equal opportunity before that was a thing, you learned how to drive a tractor, bale hay and milk cows as soon as you could reach the pedals, carry the bales, and reach the cows.  John had an infectious smile and he would give you the shirt off his back if you asked.  He was a hard worker, a gifted athlete, a good man and a great Dad.  He will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him.
