John Michael Ilewicz

John Michael Ilewicz passed away peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025 at the age of 89. John was born in Norwich, CT on July 18, 1936, son to the late Maria and Leon Ilewicz. John married Gisela Gitta Britschock on November 28, 1957. They raised their family and lived in Danielson, CT for over 60 years.

John was predeceased by his wife Gisela Gitta Britschock and his sister Merrillyn Starkweather.

John is survived by his daughter Christine Small and husband Richard Small; son Robert Ilewicz; son James Ilewicz and wife Sheila Ilewicz, grandchildren Jessica and Matthew Ilewicz, Cory and Ryan Small, great-grandchild Maggie Ilewicz; first cousins Paula Kay and husband Brooks Kay, and Angela Marcucci.

John graduated from Griswold High School in 1954 and went on to Providence College and received his BA in Education in 1958. He was a Junior High and High School teacher in the Killingly School System for 25 years. He loved spending time with his children in many outdoor activities including camping, fishing, hunting, Cub Scouts, motorcycles, horseback riding and gardening.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Providence College Annual Fund for Financial Aid at Providence.edu.
