Preston - John W Homiski Sr passed away on June 20, 2023, while under hospice care and with loving family members, at the home of his eldest son John (Jody) W Homiski Jr. John was born the youngest of eight children, to his parents Peter Homiski and Anna (Brodjek) Homiski, on January 21, 1936 at home in Fitchville CT. At a young age John had an affinity for the woods and hunting, hobbies that would last a lifetime. He played baseball at NFA and graduated in 1954. He joined the Armed Forces and was very proud to have served three years in the Marine Corp. Upon his return he married the love of his life, Theresa Ann Cormier of Norwich, a romance that would last over 64 years. Together they were blessed with two sons Jody and Mike whom they adored. In the absence of higher education but with on-the-job training, John spent over 37 years as a chemist at Pfizer. John was a man of character, discipline, and quiet charm. Although at times a man of few words, he was never afraid of having a good time. John’s top priority was family, and he was a huge presence in the lives of his sons and grandchildren (Caleb Charles, Nathan John, Gabriel Peter, Chad Michael and Shania Sue). He was honest and forthright and supportive. We all knew where we stood at any moment, and he left us with overwhelming pride to carry his name forward. In his later years he would often brag about the success and accomplishments of his grandchildren. In his final days on earth, he shared his final thoughts and hugs with all of us, including three great grandchildren (Hudson Leonard, Zachary John, and McKenzie Jane[HML1] ) the oldest of which (2 years) giving him high fives as he lay in bed. JaJa will be painfully missed but cherished forever by his loving family. Thank you, dad, for a wonderful life.
