John Kenneth Hargraves, Jr.

John K. Hargraves Jr. – passed away on July 18, 2024.   He was residing in Jewett City, Connecticut at the time. 

John Kenneth Hargraves Jr. was born the 4th child of John and Margaret Hargraves (both deceased) in New London, Connecticut in January 1958.  He is survived by his wife Rachel and the mother of his children Patrica (Marsh) Ibbison. He was the father to two children, Ryan Hargraves and Alyssa (Hargraves) Neckorcuk.

John was an Eagle Scout, achieving that goal in 1973 while he was active with Troop 75 in Preston. He enjoyed the outdoors.  He loved hunting.  In the early morning and evening hours in the fall you would find him in a tree stand one with nature. He was a marksman with both a rifle and bow. As a child he would always come home with a new reptile he found in the woods behind his childhood home. 

He was a graduate of Griswold High school in 1976. For most of his career he worked in sales ranging from household appliances, to cars, and later insurance where he serviced the Drilling and Blasting industry.

John married Rachel Oman in September 2009, she survives him.  They have lived in Jewett City, Connecticut.  John leaves behind his children and their families: Ryan Hargraves of Voluntown,CT;  Alyssa and Stephen Neckorcuk of Cambridge, Massachusetts; his siblings Margaret and Alfred Morningstar of Voluntown, CT;  Frances and Richard Hodges of Unity, Maine; Patricia and Wendell Maciejewski of Wakefield, RI; Mary Harvey of Thorndike, ME;  and Frank Hargraves and Steven Phillips of Lakeland, FL.
