Joan Elizabeth Trudeau
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, that the family of Joan Elizabeth Trudeau (Sweet), announces her transition into eternal life on January 30, 2024. Born March 11, 1940 to Allen Sweet Sr. and Eileen (McKenna) Sweet in Norwich,CT , the oldest of ten siblings. Joan worked many years at White Rock in Westerly, Rhode Island, and later on in life was a home care provider. She was the widow of Gerard Trudeau. They were married in 1974 and built a wonderful life together. Joan will always be remembered for her love of life, importance of family, sense of humor, and love of yard sailing. Her baked beans were second to none and were always a request at family get togethers.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joan is predeceased in death, by her daughter Lori Kuuttila, son Eric Kuuttila Sr, brothers Lee, Harold (Butch), and Douglas (Puggie) Sweet, and sisters Linda Gaudreau (Sweet), and Donna Barry (Sweet).
Joan is survived by her daughters Pamela Menard (Jeff), Eileen Kuuttila, son Jouko Kuuttila Jr., stepsons Gary (Robin), Wayne (Sandy), and Jerry (Gina) Trudeau, and stepdaughters Glenda White (Kevin), Kim Meardy (Mike), and Shirlene Nordgren (Leif). She is also survived by sisters Joyce Cassidy, Kathy Ross(Dave), brothers James and Wayne Sweet (Jeannie). Joan also leaves behind 18 beloved grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Health and Rehab for the exceptional care Joan received, especially in her final days, as well as Joan’s roommate Denise.
Callings hours will be on Monday February 5, 2024, from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM at Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Road, Jewett City,CT. Graveside internment will follow immediately at St. Thomas Cemetery, Griswold.
