Janet Campbell Obituary

Lisbon – Janet Campbell, 87, of Lisbon, beloved wife of Orville Campbell passed away Friday January 8, 2021, at Villa Maria Nursing and Rehab, due to complications from Covid-19.
Born Nov. 29,1933 in Pine Flats, PA to Oliver and Sarah (Holmes-Waltimier) Parry. As a child, Janet had polio and spent a summer in an iron lung. This inspired her to be a nurse. She developed a sense of adventure and at 16 she became one of the youngest pilots in the state of PA. She loved flying with her father. Later she ventured to Philadelphia to go to nursing school. While in Philly she met a young sailor, Orville Campbell, who she first eloped with on Dec. 18, 1953 in Elton, MD.  A year later in Sept. of 1954 she graduated from Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing in Norristown, PA. As a Navy wife Janet moved multiple times up and down the east coast of the US. She managed the hardest job in the Navy, being a sailor’s wife, with grace and dignity. As Orville will tell you Janet had the hard job of staying home, while he was at sea and supporting him through his 20-year Navy career. When finally settling in CT Janet continued her nursing career at the Norwich State Hospital. She worked hard to become a charge nurse on Kettle North 5. While working there under the supervision of doctors, Janet was instrumental in overseeing drug trials for many of medications that are now used to treat mental illnesses. Then she moved on to work at several local hospitals including Day Kimball and Backus. Throughout her career she obtained several degrees in Psychiatric Nursing. Upon retiring from a long career in nursing, Janet enjoyed her family, traveling/camping, scrapbooking, and became more involved in her church.
Janet is survived by her husband and her brother Robert Parry and his wife Carolyn of Champion, PA; her daughter Kathy Willard of Bluffton, SC; grandson Joseph Willard and his wife Jenny and their daughters Coda and Henna of Bellevue, NE. Also, daughter Kimberly Lang of Lisbon, CT; grandson Beckham Lang and his partner Miranda Nickerson, and granddaughter Meredith Lang all of Lisbon. Grandson Cale Campbell and his sons Oliver and Jack Schnebly of Thatcher, AZ.  Janet also leaves behind a plethora of loving cousins, nieces, and nephews throughout 7 states and 2 countries. She is predeceased by her son Kurtis D. Campbell and her sister Jane Shaffer.
