Henry Tabor Obituary

Henry Stanislaw Tabor passed away peacefully at 72 years of age on Saturday August 9th  in Norwich Connecticut surrounded by his family and best friend, Mark Kaczynski. Henry was brought into this world, along with his Brother Richard Tabor, by Stanislaw and Kazia Tabor in Hamilton Ontario Canada on November 12th 1952. After living a handful of years in Canada, His parents decided to chase the American Dream and relocated to Hartford Connecticut in 1957. They started their new life living out of their car for a brief time until his parents were able to secure an apartment in a polish community on Charter Oak Ave where the tight knit community provided them with all the necessities needed to raise a family with deep cultural values and beliefs. Henry was always so proud of his Polish heritage.

After graduating from Bulkeley High School in 1971, Henry went on to chase a career in architecture and design attending Alliance College in Cambridge Springs Pennsylvania. He achieved a Bachelors Degree in Art and Design allowing him many opportunities to use his creativity designing various restaurants and building structures back at home that still stand to this day. Henry passed his spare time enjoying his passion of motorcycles, the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, and being surrounded by people to entertain bartending at the Polish National Home where he met his beloved wife Bozenna Tabor. Bozenna was not interested in Henry at first but, his charm, consistency, and care free personality won her heart over.

Together, Henry and Bozenna started a beautiful family together on Keneth Street in Hartford before eventually planting their roots in Griswold Connecticut in 1984. Giving up life in the fast lane in exchange for simplicity and security for his new role in life as a family man, Henry started teaching blue print reading classes for many years at Grasso Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School. His personality, attention to detail, and easy going humor left a lasting impact on his students for many decades later. He not only taught his students, He inspired them. Some still share stories to this day on how his teaching style has influenced their lives in ways that is irreplaceable.

Henry eventually moved onto the construction world joining the union. Once again, his attention to detail, specifically in blue print reading, design, and  his natural talent in overseeing projects to completion allowed him to accel in his career for decades until he retired in 2017.

Henry spent his last handful of years creating memories with his beautiful grandchildren and providing a gathering place at his home for his family to reunite and rejoice. Even up until the very moment Henry fell ill, he never stopped working on his home. Using his imagination, he built and created a never ending addition to his property consisting of beautiful landscapes, gardens, patios, various displays, flower arrangments, and stonework. Henry’s passion of art and design is preserved in his home for his family to enjoy and remember him by.

Henry Tabor is survived by his wife Bozenna who would have celebrated their 45th anniversary in one week, his two sons, Patrick and Christopher, and his grandchildren Landon, Lucas, Liam, Mila, and Calvin Tabor who he went out of his way constantly to help in ways that were sometimes above and beyond. Many times without consultation. That’s just the way Henry lived his life. Putting others before himself constantly.

Henry Tabor’s calling hours will be held at Gagne and Piechowski Funeral Home at 490 Voluntown Road in Griswold CT on Saturday August 23rd between the hours of 5 and 7pm. All who would like to pay their respects for Henry are welcome to attend in bidding him farewell in his passing on to a greater purpose. Forever in our hearts and Prayers.
