Henry Maynard Obituary

Norwich – Henry P. Maynard, 89, of Tower Hill Road, Norwich, passed away Thursday at the Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn, CT.

 

Henry was born in Oneco, CT on July 17, 1932, son of the late Harry and Ellen (Geoffroy) Maynard.  Henry worked on the family farm (Maynard Dairy) in Voluntown, CT and later served in the United States Navy on the USS Sea Robin.  Upon his discharge he returned to work on the family farm as co-owner of Maynard Brothers Dairy.  Henry attended New Haven College where he earned a degree in Police Science.  Later he proudly served as a Sergeant in the CT State Police until his retirement in 1989.

 

Henry enjoyed keeping physically fit by attending exercise classes at the Norwich YMCA.  Henry was an avid bicyclist who had fond memories of bicycle trips to Europe where he met many good friends.  He also enjoyed spending winters in Florida after his retirement.

 

Henry was predeceased by his long-time companion Carolyn Murray Treadway, brothers Lawrence and Willis Maynard and his sister Joan (Maynard) Koski.

 

Henry is survived by his former wife Alice (Dean) Maynard and their four children, Roxanne Gray and son-in-law Earl, Terre Konow and son-in-law Henry, Todd Maynard and Pixy Elliott; grandchildren Giselle, Jared, Jade, Beau, Dane, Nick, Holly, and Tyler; great grandchildren Cal, Asher, Jada, Veda, Jett and Gemma.
