George Alexander Farrey

George Alexander Farrey, born August 23, 1960, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, in Meriden, CT, surrounded by his loving family after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and James Farrey Sr., and his sisters, Ellen Ardito and Donna Craig.

He leaves behind his son, Zachary Farrey, and his fiancée, Alyssa, of Naugatuck; his daughter, Alexandra Farrey, and her fiancé, Kamal, and their daughter, Kiara, of Waterbury. He is also survived by his brother, James P. Farrey Jr. of Waterbury; his sister, Patricia Farrey, and her husband, Myles, along with his nephew, Scottmichael Farrey, of Voluntown.

George graduated from Richard C. Lee High School in New Haven in 1978. He worked as a highly skilled set-up operator and machinist for most of his life, taking immense pride in his work, most recently at IDEX Health & Science in Bristol, CT.

An avid lover of antiques, George especially treasured his 1931 Ford Model A, which he enjoyed restoring and sharing with his family. He loved spending time with loved ones, hunting, fishing, and visiting the beach. Above all, he cherished the simple pleasure of sitting in the sun with his best friend, his beloved dog, Princess, by his side.

Those who knew him admired his dedication, gentle spirit, and selflessness. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, share words of wisdom, or simply be there for those in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A calling hour will be Wednesday March 12, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Rd. Jewett City, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church 34 N. Main St. Jewett City, CT with burial to follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in Griswold.
