Griswold – Frank Wayland Stetson, 92, of Bethel Road, passed away Friday morning, January 21, 2022 at the W.W. Backus Hospital, Norwich, CT.
He was born August 23, 1929 in Norwich, CT son of the late Frank and Blanche (Montgomery) Stetson. On May 28, 1955, he was married to Priscilla (Powe) Stetson. She survives him.
He attended the Pachaug Elementary School and graduated from Griswold High School.
Wayland honorably served in the US Navy. He worked for 35 years at Electric Boat as a sheet metal mechanic and sheetmetal instructor for new hires.
He was a founding member of the Griswold Volunteer Fire Department, and an active member for 65 years. Wayland was also a member of the First Congregational Church of Griswold, and the American Legion. A skilled woodcarver, he was a member of the Mystic Carving Club and the Green Mountain Woodcarvers of Vermont.
In addition to his wife Priscilla, he is survived by his daughter Wendy (Stetson) Mis and her husband Steve, his sisters Blanche Perry and Miriam Belisle, and his two grandchildren Matthew and Allison Mis.
He was predeceased by his sons Wayland and Wayne Stetson, his sister Patricia Hoffman and brother William Stetson.

A celebration of Wayland’s life will be held 11:00AM Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the First Congregational Church, Griswold, CT.
