Frank David Nelkin passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2025 in his beloved hometown,
Voluntown CT, just days after his 45th birthday.
Frank was born in Norwich on December 26, 1979 to parents John and Deborah Nelkin of
Voluntown.
Frank attended Elementary School in Voluntown and he graduated from Griswold high school
in 1998. He went on to become a master pipe fitter and welder, a true craftsman to his trades.
He worked for AZ Corporation and Rivco as a general foreman. Frank currently worked for
Grodsky Corporation with Local 777 Pipe Fitters Union until his passing.
Frank started his baseball career in the Jewett City Little League system. He went on to play
Jewett City Babe Ruth, High School, and finally American legion baseball, which he thoroughly
enjoyed playing alongside his lifelong friends.
Frank was a skilled hunter, an avid fisherman, and a New England sports fanatic. Frank
faithfully cheered on his favorite teams: New England Patriots, UConn Huskies, and the
Boston Red Sox with fierce loyalty. Frank loved the outdoors, his family and friends, and
making people laugh. He was a man of risk taking, joke telling, and going fast!
Frank is survived by his only daughter Kate Nelkin of West Greenwich RI, his beloved parents
John and Deborah Nelkin, his sister Leah Allen of North Stonington and her family, brother in
law Bruce Allen and nephews William and Sam Allen and grandmother Audrey Grenier of
Voluntown.
