Francis LaPointe Obituary
Francis Eudore LaPointe, 88, of Jewett City passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones.
He was born in Pachaug, CT to the late Edmund LaPointe and Aldora Varieur LaPointe. He was married on November 5, 1955 to the love of his life Claire Bachand. He retired from Electric Boat in 1994 and kept busy at the Griswold Elderly Housing and coaching the Special Olympics.
Frances is survived by his wife of 65 years Claire, three sons, Donald (Mariann), John, Paul (Kathy), four daughters Barbara Turner (John), Karen Richardson, Jean LaPointe, Carol LaPointe, eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was not only an avid sports fan; he was an outstanding athlete in High School and into his senior years. He won numerous trophies in Softball and Bowling. He competed in the Senior Olympics at the State, Regional and National Level.
Calling hours will be Sunday June 27, 2021 from 5 to 7 PM at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road Jewett City, CT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday June 28, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church Jewett City, CT with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Lily Pond Road Griswold, CT.
