Elaine Makara Obituary
Preston – Elaine Theresa (Bachand) Makara, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 11, 2021 at the Colonial Health and Rehab in Plainfield, CT.
She was born to Emile and Yvonne (Bryant) Bachand on June 15, 1931. Elaine was predeceased in 2014 by her beloved husband of 63 years, Frank J. Makara, Sr.
Elaine was a lifelong resident of Jewett City and a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. In recent years she resided with her daughter Carol and husband Tony in Preston, CT.
She was a lifetime member of VFW#10004. She loved gardening and spending time with family. She and her husband Frank enjoyed many vacations in Myrtle Beach with family and friends.
Elaine is survived by her sons Frank Makara, Jr. and wife Theresa, Rick Makara and wife Sandra, and daughter Carol Bobowicz and husband Tony, grandchildren Lisa Ayres, Michael, Daniel and Matthew Makara, Chad, Ryan and Shane Viens and Lindsey McGuire, her twin sister Lorraine Bachand, sister Patricia Miller (Larry) and sister in law Joy Bachand. She was predeceased by her brother Ronald Bachand. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Lexie Robillard, Christian, Jordan and Kayleigh Viens, and Mark and Nathan McGuire, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Monday, September 20, 2021 at St. Mary’s Church, Jewett City. Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Griswold. There are no calling hours. For online condolences please go to www.gagnefuneralhome.com
