It is with great sadness that the family of Edward (“Ed” or “Eddie”) Stradczuk, 95, announces his passing on December 18, 2025.
Eddie was a loving husband to Annette who predeceased him and a devoted Father to Sheryl and her husband Mark, Grandfather to Geoffrey, Dylan, Arielle, Emily and Aydan, and Great Grandfather to Greyson, Logan, Conrad, and Oliver.
Eddie grew up in Griswold on his parents’ dairy farm, entered the Navy serving for four years on an aircraft carrier during the Korean War, and returned home to run the dairy farm for many years. His next career was with the local telephone company where he found a passion working as a manager with network services until his retirement. During his Navy years, he married the love of his life, Annette, in 1954. After the Navy, they settled in Griswold in the home Eddie built where they raised their daughter.
During his retirement years, Eddie was active in the St. Mary travelers group, played many rounds of golf with his good friends, served as president of the Griswold Senior Center where he was devoted to the years of planning and construction of the new center, loved attending the weekly Veteran’s Coffeehouse gatherings, was an avid wood craftsman creating many beautiful pieces for friends and family, enjoyed playing Canasta weekly with a group of friends, attended many UConn and Mohegan Sun Women’s basketball games, and truly loved spending time with his family watching football games, boating, and just being together.
There will be a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church in Jewett City on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 10:00 am followed by a ceremony at Pachaug Cemetery. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home.
